It has been over ten years since we proudly erected a beautiful permanent memorial in Tallassee to honor our nations’ veterans who have served during wartime. A committee, including members of the Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, Tallassee City Council, Chamber of Commerce, and other interest citizens are in the process of researching the expense for adding another bronze plate to contain additional names of veterans who served during wartime The cost to have a name inscribed has greatly increased, and the foundry will need a minimum number of names for this to be feasible.
The Veterans Recognition Committee is happy to announce plans for a Brick Paver Campaign that will be updated yearly to publicly recognize all who served our country. We believe that every veteran deserves a tangible way of being publicly recognized for their service.
If you are a US veteran, or if there is someone close to you, living or deceased, who served our nation, take this opportunity to have a brick paver engraved and permanently inlaid on the grounds of Veterans Park or Tallassee City Hall for all to see.
Each tax-deductible $60 donation provides a place of distinct honor for any US veteran or military unit, who you, your family or group wish to memorialize. A ceremony will be held on Veterans Day to dedicate the pavers for this year
Please complete the attached form. Print clearly so that we may avoid spelling errors. Return with your payment of $60 by October 1, 2013, to City Hall, or mail to Veterans Recognition Committee, Tallassee City Hall, 3 Freeman Avenue, Tallassee, Alabama 36078. Please make checks payable to Veterans’ Recognition Fund. If you miss the deadline, you may purchase a paver for the next ceremony.
